How we heal – as individuals and as a community - from traumatic events such as September 11 and the marathon bombings, will be the topic of a discussion at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center (333 Nahanton Street) in Newton on Tuesday, April 1 at 7:30pm.

Participating in the conversation will be One Fund administrator Ken Feinberg, September 11 widow Susan Retik and Rabbi Claudia Kreiman who lost her mother in a terrorist bombing.

Ken Feinberg is the Special Master of the U.S. government’s September 11th Victim Compensation Fund and administrator of the One Fund - the victim assistance fund established in the wake of the 2013 Boston Marathon® bombings.

Susan Retik, of Needham, is the co-founder of Beyond the 11th, a charity that supports widows in Afghanistan affected by war and terrorism. Her commitment to Afghan widows was born from her own journey into widowhood which began on September 11, 2001, when her husband David was killed.

Rabbi Claudia Kreiman is the Associate Rabbi at Temple Beth Zion in Brookline. In 1994, she lost her mother in the terrorist bombing of the AMIA (Jewish Community Center) in Buenos Aires.

The event is part of the Jonathan Samen Hot Buttons, Cool Conversations Discussion Series at the JCC – a program of the Ryna Greenbaum JCC Center for the Arts. Cost is $18. Students and seniors: $15. For tickets, contact 617-965-5226, boxoffice@jccgb.org or visit www.bostonjcc.org/artsevents.
