The Newburyport based arts program returns to PEM as part of opening day festivities for the museum’s latest exhibit, “California Design, 1930-1965: Living in a Modern Way,” which showcases midcentury modern architecture, furniture and textiles. Picking up on the exhibit’s theme of what it meant to live “in a modern way”, the program will examine fashion, feminism and the changing lives of women in the 50s, 60s and beyond. “From Bullet Bras to Bra Burning” features novelist Sigrid Nunez (Sempre Susan, The Last of Her Kind) and BU sociologist Ashley Mears (Pricing Beauty).
