The Little Blue One: Opera Project 2014

Presented by at BCA Plaza Theatre

    April 24 - April 26, 2014

The Little Blue One: Opera Project 2014

In this world premiere opera, you'll meet "Azzurina," a young albino teenager ridiculed for her appearance, forced to die her hair blue, and confined by her father in his palace. Torn between reality and the supernatural, she will risk everything for the freedom and acceptance she desires. Composer Dominick DiOrio and librettist Meghan Guidry join forces for this modern psychological thriller based on a classic Italian folktale. Can Azzurina ever be free?

The music for The Little Blue One is haunting and magical, imbued with the pathos and yearning of a scared adolescent.  Performed in English.

Juventas New Music Ensemble's previous productions have won The American Prize for Best Professional Opera Production (2012) and the National Opera Association Award for Best Professional Production (2011).
