In collaboration with the Fine Family, The Irving Fine Society, and Brandeis University, BMOP presents a program of three mid-century American masters. In the 1940s, Fine and his colleagues Harold Shapero and Arthur Berger became part of a tight-knit group of composers known as the "Boston School" who contributed to a growing body of uniquely American concert music. Incorporating elements from neoclassicism to serialism, from Stravinsky to Copland, Fine and his colleagues graced the concert hall with their lyrical, eloquent, and powerful musical voices. From the Berkshire Music Center to Harvard to Brandeis University, where they played central roles in the institution's artistic development, these three dynamic composers influenced following generations of artists and contributed to a vibrant legacy of new music in New England.
