    Who is Lowell? - Portraits of the City Reception

     Lowell, Massachusetts. A reception to showcase the work of students from Lowell High School’s Freshman Academy, “Who is Lowell? – Portraits of the City” will be held at Lowell National Historical Park on Sunday, May 18th , 2014 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm. The show will run through August 15, 2014 at the Boott Cotton Mills Museum.

    Through a selection of contemporary portraits of the people that live and work in Lowell, local youth photographers capture some of the complexities of community and self-identity in this diverse and dynamic city. The exhibit highlights the many dimensions of human experience in the city as seen through the eyes of Lowell's next generation of photographers. Visitors will also have the opportunity to contribute their own portraits and thoughts on self-identity and become a part of the exhibit themselves. Come discover the many faces of Lowell.

    The Brush Art Gallery’s Lowell Photography Weekend, is a city-wide, multi-venue celebration of photography taking place in Lowell Massachusetts on May 17 and 18, 2014. Lowell galleries, museums and businesses will be hosting a wide range of photographic exhibitions. While the length of each exhibition will vary, all venues will host artists' receptions on the same weekend. Receptions will be staggered so that the visitor has time to visit each venue and meet all the exhibiting photographers.

    The reception is free to attend and will be held at the Boott Cotton Mill Museum at 115 John Street in downtown Lowell. The art exhibition in the Reflection Room is free. If you would like to also visit the Museum, there is a fee. Parking is available at the City’s Joseph Downes Garage (75 John Street) at the corner of John and French Streets.
