Edie Carey and Sarah Sample -- songwriters/tour buddies/mamas -- joining forces to make a beautiful album of lullabies and songs of comfort. They say they have always flirted with the idea of making an album together, and now that they find themselves in a similar season of life (aka sleep-deprived and covered in spit up), it feels like the right time. They have both been able to stay active in our musical communities after having little ones, but have noticed that the time they have to sit and write songs in a quiet room for hours has drastically decreased. Instead, melodies for new songs come floating in when least expected, like while sitting in a rocking chair or pushing a stroller or chopping a banana into eleventy small pieces.
They wanted to create a collection of songs that are soothing not just for your infant or child, but for someone of any age and have put together some of their own original tunes, songs that our parents sang to us when we were all tiny, and the lullaby-ified versions of some of their favorite tunes.
