Rob learned his craft on the stages and the open mics of Boston's fertile folk scene. Meanwhile he was sharing the stage with the best of Boston's jazz musicians, folks like Mark Shilansky and Phil Sargent. At this time he was also an astute student of world music, particularly percussion. He cofounded the hard to categorize duo - and sometimes band - Cactus Highway, of which the Village Voice called "Amazing".
After touring the country in the early 2000's, Rob and Cactus Highway/life partner Andrea Wollstadt settled in Maine where Rob quickly was put to work as a very busy sideman and music teacher. As of late he has been going back to performing his own music, becoming busy as a leader of his own band "duquette" a busy solo performer of "grown up music" and busiest of all as a "world music children's performer," accompanying himself on guitar, piano, ukelele, xylophone and percussion from around the globe. www.robduquette.com
