Grex (SF/Oakland) on Tour w/Sawyer/Neuberg/Parcell Trio and Morgan Evans-Weiler
July 20, 2014
California-based trio Grex brings its current blend of free jazz and art rock to Cambridge's Outpost 186, touring in support of its new album "Monster Music." Called "an otherworldy experience" and "completely original" (Tiny Mix Tapes) Grex was formed as a way to explore the meeting point between popular song and experimental jazz, fostering a new music that both encompasses and expands upon its influences. The band has worked with the likes of Fred Frith, Tony Levin (King Crimson), and Zeena Parkins, studying under Art Ensemble of Chicago member Rosoce Mitchell. For this special evening of music, Grex will be joined by the trio of locals Angela Sawyer, Nick Neuberg, and Ethan Parcell, plus a special solo performance by violinist/electronic musician Morgan Evans-Weiler.
