July 16 - August 2, 2014
From Wednesday, July 16, through Saturday, August 2, Bang on a Can and MASS MoCA present the 13th annual Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA. The three-week long festival is dedicated entirely to the creation, study, and performance of adventurous contemporary music. Over 50 ground-breaking composers and performers from around the world travel to North Adams to learn, teach, and make Bang on a Can the cutting edge of musical innovation. The Festival faculty and fellows participate in workshops focused on everything from African and Latin music, to improvisation, master classes, and music business seminars. This year, the public is invited to attend daily gallery recitals, children’s program Kids Can Too!, Bang on a Can All-Stars presentation of David Lang’s death speaks, the “After Hours” performances at the Chalet, family concert at Windsor Lake, and the Bang on a Can Marathon, in addition to guest performances and world premieres of music composed at MASS MoCA.
