Let’s Make a Sandwich: An Experiment in Opera Production
September 25 - September 27, 2014
Let’s Make a Sandwich is comprised of two short chamber operas; RareBit with music and libretto by Curtis K. Hughes, and Ouroboros with music and libretto by Rudolf Rojahn. Both librettos are freely adapted from the same source material, a 1950 short informational film of the same title. Both operas will be directed separately by two directors, Copeland Woodruff and Giselle Ty, with a brief intermission between each pair. The goal of this production is to open a window into the process of creating opera, highlighting how each composer and each director approaches the same material, as well as where the composer’s work ends and the director’s work begins.
Meet the composers, directors, cast and creative team from Let’s Make a Sandwich, directly following the performance on Friday, September 26. Talk-backs are included with ticket purchases and are held in The Zack Box Theatre at The Boston Conservatory.
