Micachu is precociously talented 21-year-old Mica Levi, an English experimental pop composer/performer, known for her delightfully eccentric live shows and homemade instruments. She counts among her fans Björk, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which last year commissioned and premiered a piece she wrote. She is a protégé of Matthew Herbert, known for his work with REM, Serge Gainsbourg, Yoko Ono and John Cale. Mica studied violin, viola and composition at the Purcell School in England before being offered a composition scholarship to one of Europe’s leading conservatories, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she is still a student. Armed with just her beat up, half sized guitar and hidden beneath a mop of hair, Mica’s understated appearance belies her startling musical prowess. She and her band, The Shapes (Raisa Kahn on keyboard and Mark Pell on drums), command the stage with “effortless nonchalance from which they segue from tin-man-chest-thumping percussion to brief noise squalls to woo-hoo falsetto pop jams.” (The New York Times)

“Staggeringly inventive, madly capricious, and utterly unpredictable, this is pop for the 2010s” - Dazed & Confused

“Ridiculously talented” - The London Paper

“Unbridled eccentricity” – NME
