Providence, Rhode Island-based The Low Anthem celebrates the Nonesuch Records release of their previously self-released Oh My God, Charlie Darwin with a show at the Brattle Theatre. This trio of multi-instrumentalists plays languid, elegant music that is truly American. The simple, folk-like structures of its songs are distinguished by hushed, hymn-like, chamber-music arrangements—as well as by the occasional, deliriously free-spirited acoustic rave-up. They have drawn comparisons to Tom Waits, Simon & Garfunkel, The Band, Grant Lee Buffalo, and the Scud Mountain Boys.
