WORKSHOPS

Work with illustrator/calligrapher Mary Teichman to explore the ancient graphic art of manuscript illumination and create your own decorated letter. Using historical examples as models, students can either copy a design, or create their own. We will study gilding on paper using 22K gold leaf, and miniature painting techniques with egg tempera paint. Students will learn how to make tempera paint using pure pigment colors and egg yolks. No previous experience is needed. Return home with your own beautifully decorated letter. Tuition includes all supplies. Bring a lunch!
