    Madame White Snake

A cross-cultural drama of passion and transformation, the world premiere of 'Madame White Snake' is an international operatic event not to be missed! In a story drawn from a beloved Chinese legend, a powerful white snake demon longs to become human to experience love. She grasps love for one fleeting instant before it is swept away by a flood of deceit, doubt and distrust. Internationally-renowned opera and theatre director Robert Woodruff, the former Artistic Director of the American Repertory Theatre, returns to Boston to stage this compelling and heart-breaking drama. Soprano Ying Huang and male soprano Michael Maniaci make their Opera Boston debuts as Madame White Snake and her servant Xiao Qing. Sung in English with projected titles. Free pre-performance talk held one hour before curtain. Free artist talkback Q & A will follow Sunday matinee.
