Joe Keller strives for the American Dream, but two years after WWII's end, his family still suffers from its aftershocks. When Chris, the elder son, announces his plan to marry his still missing-in-action brother's fiancée, a mother must confront her denial, a son his father's fallibility, and a father his true responsibilities. Arthur Miller's powerful story about personal responsibility won the 1947 Tony Award for Best Play and catapulted him among the ranks of America's greatest playwrights.

      This was a beautiful theatre-going experience. The play continues to be so topical for our time. We still have wars, long for those lost, see corruption and unethical behavior, and avoid personal responsibilty. Items that we all struggle with from time to time. The acting was wonderful; very powerful, clever, and often deeply emotional. There were times I just couldn't immediately applaud at the end of the scene because I was so wrapped up in what had just occurred. The set was a relatively empty and lifeless garden, much like the way each character felt in their own way. The projected images were well chosen and helped to set the tone for each scene. Congratualtions to the actors and designers, you should be very proud of your work! Collapse

      This masterful performance was riveting on so many levels. The actors (especially the ones playing Joe and Kate) were incredible; the moral dilemmas the play presented about duties to family and society are going to make me think about the play weeks after it's over. The dramatic pace of the play, the witty dialogue, its intermix of tragedy and comedy all add to the emotional complexity of this work of art. I came out of the theater stunned to the bone, having experienced true catharsis. Goethe, too, said once: "Today I was a happy man. I cried in the theater." Collapse

      What a pleasure to see such a masterfully written play so well performed. The austere script , tight plotting and dramatic development are challenging to perform, yet the cast does so with ease, riveting us to our seats throughout this spellbinding performance. We are transported to 1948 and enraptured by the intertwined lives of the families portrayed. The effects of war on love, fatherhood and family unity are as relevant today as they 60 years ago.       This was one of the best plays I have seen in some time! The acting was so great that at times I completely forgot that I was watching it live. I'm familiar with Arthur Miller, however had not read this play in particular and was drawn in completely and blown away by where the characters were able to take the audience. You felt as though you were a voyeur, peeking into a family struggling to survive and move forward. Their pain becomes your pain as one realizes we are all part of the same family.
