Showcase of the individual artistic expressions of work by the talented artists of the two groups to create a large variety of wood objects of utility and esthetic appeal. The display in the Parsons Gallery includes skillfully handcrafted objects created by members of the guild, using domestic and exotic woods. In addition to many pieces of furniture, finely turned bowls, woodcarvings, handcrafted toys, trays, and boxes is an object of special interest: the First Issue available of a handsomely fashioned gavel created by local wood turner Bobbi Tornheim in the woodshop of Lexington Arts and Craft Society from bits of a giant sugar maple, which, wind from a northeaster toppled three years ago and was purported to be the oldest tree on Lexington’s historic Battle Green. The gavel is now available at silent auction and will be on display at the current Woodworkers’ Gallery Show Proceeds will benefit the LACS.
The Lexington Arts and Crafts Society is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization established in 1935.
