MUSIC
The Warsaw Village Band (Kapela Ze Wsi Warszawa) brings a modern vitality to Polish village music, creating a self-coined "hardcore folk." Yelping vocals, adapted from traditional shepherds' calls, float above fiddles, cello, frame drum, trumpet, Polish hammered dulcimer, hurdy-gurdy and instruments such as the plosk fiddle and the suka, a 16th-century fiddle played with the fingernails.
