múm (pronounced moom) is an Icelandic pop group whose highly original music is characterized by soft vocals, eccentric rhythms and colorful effects. Since their foundation in 1998, múm have forged a sublimely bright, warm and rich take on electronica. Playing an assortment of traditional and unconventional instruments alongside crisply programmed electronic washes and beats, the band’s talent, inventiveness and nose for musical exploration is immediately audible. múm play the Somerville Theatre this fall, in support of their August 2009 release, Sing Along to Songs You Don’t Know.
