Hard Times Don't Last; Ukuleles Do
October 9, 2009
An evening of not-depressing songs! As the modern world crumbles around us, one musical instrument stands tall, as tiny as it is: the ukulele. Its happy-go-lucky sound has been bringing cheer since its heyday in Hawaii, its other heyday in the 1920s, and its third and fourth heydays in the 50s and 60s. Today, the uke is used in all styles and genres of music, but somehow even the sad songs sound happy. So come on, Keep Your Sunny Side Up and join some of the area’ s biggest purveyors of small for a night of great songs old and new, hosted by CCAE ukulele instructor Danno Sullivan. What will you hear? Perhaps some rock 'n' roll? A beautiful Hawaiian ballad? Carefree songs of yesteryear? That Jason Mranz song? Yes to all, and even more. Stay tuned to the CCAE website for more details, but book your ticket today for a happier tomorrow. All ages welcome.
