Free Student Performances at WFT! 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009 For Children and Families - Fiddler on the Roof (Junior Version) : Based on Sholem Aleichem stories by special permission of Arnold Perl, “Fiddler” takes place in the small village of Anatevka. Tevye, a poor dairyman tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, “Fiddler on the Roof” has touched audiences around the world with its humour, warmth, and honesty. It’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality, and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy, and sadness. (6:30 p.m.)

Book by Joseph Stein, Music by Jerry Bock, and Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick For Teens and Adults - Love, Lies and Betrayal : Teens perform select scenes from “Pseudolus” by Plautus, a ribald Greek comedy involving a cunning slave and a master’s son, “Amadeus” by Peter Shaffer, a character driven narrative, (Viking Press), “The Heiress” by Ruth and Augusts Goetz, an award winning play about love and revenge, and “A View From the Bridge”, Arthur Miller’s study on family, honor, and betrayal.
