Balancing figures have been around for centuries as decorative items or folk toys. They are whimsical, educational, interactive, and soothing. Make one to put on your desk at work or at home and enjoy watching it; the physics of the balance and the movement are intriguing and amazing. In this class, students will make balancing figures from paper, wooden shapes, wires, and thin sheets of metal. Some wirework techniques will taught. Students will make at least one figure to take home, and have the knowledge and skills to make balancing figures on their own. Also offered as a workshop. Limited to 6. Instructor: Vlad Barsukov
