German photographer Thomas Struth is best known for the ambitious range and global reach of his work, from classic black-and-white streetscapes to intense family portraits to vivid, large-scale natural landscapes. Beginning his artistic studies as a painter in the mid-1970s, Struth soon shifted his attention to photography and, over three decades, has evolved into one of the world’s leading contemporary photographers. Struth has been the subject of numerous exhibitions throughout the United States, Europe, and the Far East, and today lives and works in the arts capital of Düsseldorf.
