After the success of his presentations on Bill Charlap, Ahmad Jamal, Michel Camilo, and Kenny Baron, jazz pianist and vocalist Joe Della Penna returns to the Cambridge Center with a new pre-show lecture about the music of Donal Fox. Fox is internationally acclaimed as composer, pianist, and improviser in both the jazz and classical fields. His reinventions and mashups of classical melodies and themes, inspired by J. S. Bach, Curtis Mayfield, Robert Schumann, James Brown, Thelonius Monk, and John Coltrane have won accolades from critics and fans worldwide. Enjoy complimentary wine and cheese while learning about this inventive virtuoso, and then stroll with your classmates to catch Fox’ s 10 pm show at the nationally renowned Regattabar.
