November 6-December 5, 2009
Add Review/Comment
Somewhere Far From Habit brings poetry and the visual arts together by pairing ten poets with ten book artists, in which the artists have created artist's books inspired by the poets' work. The show includes work from Joy Harjo, Aaron Smith, Natasha Trethewey, Robert Pinsky, Michael Burkard, E. Ethelbert Miller, Tom Sleigh, Lucie Brock-Broido, Liam Rector and Jason Shinder. The book artists include Buzz Spector, Ben Blount, Kerri Cushman, Audrey Niffenegger, Margot Ecke, Richard Minsky, Shawn Sheehy, Karen Kunc, and Beatrice Coron. The show itself, which will be at the Pierre Menard Gallery for the month of November, will consist of forty pieces, four from each artist, one to two of which will be inspired by the poets' work, and two additional artist books of the artists' selection. Letter-pressed broadsides of each of the inspiration poems will also be included in the exhibit.
