Anthology, a professional women's vocal quartet, will present a program of a cappella folk music titled “Men In Uniform”.In this program, Anthology explores the rich folk traditions of the British Isles, Ireland and North America. The concert will feature each singer’s solo style, as well as the lush harmonic singing that audiences have come to expect from Anthology. The repertoire is drawn from war songs, classic American folk tunes, sea shanties and more. Selections will include the Canadian favorites “Frobisher Bay” and “Barrett’s Privateers”, traditional favorites “The Skye Boat Song” from Scotland and “Shule Agra” from Ireland, and Anthology’s own arrangement of the Grammy-nominated song “The Scarlet Tide” from the film Cold Mountain. The theme of “Men in Uniform” brings together music which spans hundreds of years in the folk tradition, focusing on soldiers, sailors, cowboys, miners, and others. Anthology is premiering its own unique arrangements of several pieces, some of which include accordion accompaniment.
