Aliana de la Guardia and Jonathan Nussman present an evening of song featuring new works from four composers assorted with the works of Berg, Brahms, and Barber with Pianist Hisako Hiratsuka. Featured works include: Marti Epstein's Lenz for baritone and piano with poetry by Kandinsky; Rudolf Rojahn's Dodo as Avian Christ, using historial first-hand accounts of the extinct Dodo performed by Aliana and violinist Gabriela Diaz (world premiere); John Murphree's Her Final Summer for male and female voice and prerecorded sound (world premiere); and Masaki Hasebe's Mi-da-re-ga-mi for piano and soprano commissioned by Aliana and pianist Hisako Hiratsuka with poetry by Akiko Yosano (world premirere)
