Sweet Plantain is a string quartet that specializes in genre-blurring, orignal compostions and arrangements as well as comtemporary works by Latin American composers. Its unique style fuses latin, classical, jazz and improvisational forms. Sweet Plantain recorded with Academy Award/Grammy/Golden-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto on his film score for the film, Silk and on the debut album of Sakamoto-produced Kotoringo, a pop/jazz singer songwriter on the rise in Japan.
