You may not know Doug Roble’s name, but if you love the movies then chances are you’ve seen his work. As creative director of software at the world-renowned visual effects studio Digital Domain, Roble, a two-time Academy Award® winner, developed the technologies used to create the visual effects in “2012” and many of Hollywood’s most popular films. Hear how Roble’s award-winning fluid simulation system was used to create the watery wonders of “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” and “The Day After Tomorrow” and how his software was central to bringing these and other blockbusters to the big screen.
