The United South End Settlement's Children's Art Centre offers a Teen Portfolio class for high school students who are serious about pursuing art. Learn to see what is really there to develop skills and confidence of perception by defining edges, shapes, relationships, light and shadow based in part by the book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. Continue through each session in order to create a portfolio that reflects disciplines in observation, figure drawing, imagination and conceptual skills. Students will build an artistic vocabulary and beginning knowledge of art history in order to participate in critiques, museum visits and visiting artist workshops.
