    George M. A. Hanfmann Memorial Lecture with Adriano La Regina, chair of Etruscology, La Sapienza University, and director, National Institute of Archaeology and History of Art, Rome

    Professor La Regina, for many years the superintendent of antiquities for the city of Rome, will explore the location and size of Emperor Nero’s legendary palace, the Domus Aurea. He will look at the surviving parts of the palace, discuss their relationship to other buildings, and consider the transformation of this controversial structure under later emperors.

    This lecture is cosponsored by the Archaeological Institute of America and the Harvard Art Museum.
