    Sommore, a comic-turned-actress from New Jersey, first started turning heads when her stand-up routines helped her achieve the Richard Pryor Comic of the Year Award in 1995. A subsequent appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, along with astounding record sales helped to boost her celebrity status. She performed alongside Mo'nique and others in the Queens of Comedy standup film, appeared on BET ComicView and landed roles in movies such as Friday After Next, Soul Plane and Dirty Laundry. In 2008, Sommore was on the winning team for season 6 of Celebrity Fit Club. She can also be seen in her stand-up special DVD, The Queen Stands Alone.
