In Concert: The Essex Harmony
April 11, 2010
A musical past is reborn at this rousing concert of patriotic music by the acclaimed Essex Harmony, an a capella choral ensemble that performs American “singing school” music of the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. The Essex Harmony performs a repertoire of historical music that captures the sound of Old South Meeting House in the Colonial and Federal periods. Hear William Billings’ patriotic works and his stirring Revolutionary anthems, some of which were first played publically in this very hall in the 1700s.
