Saturday, March 27 [2 pm – 4 pm] $35 nonmembers / $30 members Songwriters of all experience levels are welcome to join Carrie for this workshop. This workshop focuses on the power, value, and healing in telling our stories from our authentic voices. We will also explore the small joys and pains in life, emphasizing the little moments that are often taken for granted. Carrie has presented songwriting, creative writing and vocational reflection workshops in spiritual and secular settings throughout the USA, giving special attention to creating a safe, and nurturing atmosphere for exploration. One of the definitive voices of the Heartland, Carrie has released 12 albums on Rounder Records, toured internationally with Alison Krauss and Union Station, her song “I Should Have Known Better” that appeared on Nickel Creek’s Grammy winning This Side, was chosen Folk Wax Artist and Album of the Year in both 2003 and 2008. She’s been called a “a soaring songstress” by Billboard, a “prairie mystic” by the Boston Globe and Rolling Stone states “Newcomer asks all the right questions and refuses to settle for easy answers.” “To my mind - a writer’s mind- Carrie Newcomer is much more than a musician. She’s a poet, storyteller, snake-charmer, good neighbor, friend and lover, minister of the wide-eyed gospel of hope and grace.”- Barbara Kingsolver (Author of The Poisonwood Bible)
