Sunday, March 28 [1:00 pm – 3:30 pm] $45 nonmembers / $40 members Somatic Voicework (SWV) is a state-of-the art vocal technique specifically designed for Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM); i.e., folk, rock, pop, jazz and musical theater. It is a body-based method of vocal training which draws from many disciplines including classical singing, voice science and medicine, as well as movement and bodywork. The workshop will include a brief overview of how the voice works; physical exercises to improve posture and breath support; and vocal exercises to gain control, strength and freedom. Bring your questions as well as any songs you'd like to work on. Celia Slattery is a certified teacher of SWV, and a member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing). In addition, her background includes an M.A. in theatre and over twenty years professional experience as a singer of jazz, folk, and pop music.
