Women Composers Spotlight: Flutes with Poetry
April 9, 2010
Women Composers Spotlight: Flutes with Poetry features several of Boston's finest performers. Deborah Boldin, flute, is the director of Chameleon Arts Ensemble. Jessi Rosinski, a member of Callithumpian Consort, performs on flute and alto flute. Ms. Boldin and Ms. Rosinski will each perform solos plus flute duos by Shulamit Ran and Alex Shapiro. Jodi Hitzhusen, soprano, joins Ms. Rosinski in the challenging Haiku by Ursula Mamlok. Rafael Popper-Keizer, cello, and Ms. Boldin play the evocative Llef by Hilary Tann. Flute solos by Pamela J. Marshall and Terry Winter Owens are introduced by the poems that inspired the music. Sound collages by Sabrina Pena Young and Pamela Z complete the program.
