Aardvark celebrates the centennial of jazz great Mary Lou Williams (1910-1981), with classics like Walkin' and Swinging and Scratchin' in the Gravel, recorded by Andy Kirk, and Roll 'Em, made famous by Benny Goodman, plus Scorpio, from the adventurous Zodiac Suite, in a rarely-heard arrangement made for Duke Ellington. Sacred music will include Gloria, from Mary Lou's Mass, and Black Christ of the Andes/St. Martin de Porres. Also on tap: the premiere of Mark Harvey’s Blues for Mary Lou.
