Out of the Dark, a concert of two ballets, including a world premiere, by New England’s most innovative dance-maker, Jose Mateo. Out of the Dark offers Boston audiences a new dance experience with cabaret-style seating, cocktails during the show and a close-up view of the dancers. The concert features Mateo’s classic Mozart Concerto (1991). Deceptively wrapped in the alluring formal patterns of classical ballet, Mozart Concerto unsuspectingly takes us to the more private realm of personal emotion. A Monarch struggles with her conflicting devotion to her court, and to her lover. The concert also includes a Mateo premiere to Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera’s String Quartet #2.
