Chinese Folk Dance

This class will introduce you to just a few of the thousands of dances of China’s 56 different ethnic groups. From the elegant peacock dance of the Dai people to the lively, unique dance of the Miao people, you will explore a variety of cultures and regions of China while improving your posture, flexibility, and body coordination. In this class, you will learn the basic movements characteristic of each dance and will combine them into a short choreography to the enchanting sounds of Chinese folk music. Experienced Chinese dancer Yuhan Ai has a degree from the Beijing Dance Academy, China’s highest institution of dance. Everyone ages 14+ is welcome. (See also Chinese Folk Dancing for kids ages 8-12)
