Appalachian Clogging is a traditional percussive step dance that developed in the Appalachian Mountains. This lively, improvisatory dance encompasses elements of English, Irish, African-American, and Native American foot-work and rhythms and is accompanied by old-time music. This class will introduce you to the basic rhythms and movements of the dance while encouraging you to explore your own natural improvisatory spirit! Traditional Appalachian smooth dance figures will be introduced as well as simple routines for footwork development. Please wear hard leather-soled shoes or tap shoes. Everyone ages 14+ is welcome. Register by phone or online.
