WGBH screens the one-hour pilot "Sound Tracks: Music Without Borders." Hosted by Marco Werman of WGBH’s international news radio show The World, the series explores various cultures by combining journalistic curiosity with the adventures of travel and great music. Werman heads a crew of international correspondents, including Alexis Bloom, Frontline’s Arun Rath and Mirissa Neff, who take viewers on a journey through a diverse selection of countries and musical genres in order to tell the compelling stories of the people behind the music. The pilot episode explores music in Russia, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, and Portugal. At the event, Werman will introduce the screening and give background on Sound Tracks, followed by discussion and performance by world singer Razia Said, who’s music reflects the environmental pressures of her homeland of Madagascar.

Admission is free, but RSVP is required.
