Island Moving Company’s rendition of Dracula is a show that you have to see and experience. The music and choreography were beautiful and the artistry was very creative. One of the unique features of the show is that the dancers guide the audience from one room to the next. The dancers make you feel like you are part of the show and not just an observer. The old gothic mansion was the perfect setting. After seeing IMC’s performance I can’t imagine seeing Dracula in a traditional theater. One of the show’s highlights is the spectacular acrobatic performance of Dracula’s seductive brides on the silks. Rather than spending your evening doing something ordinary …experience “Bite Night” instead.

As an avid theatre and dance supporter, I have come to appreciate a high quality production, especially from a local company. I was not prepared, however, for the impact left by The Island Moving Company's production of Dracula. With opulent surroundings, daring choreography and a theatrical feast for the senses, it moved me to tears, something never before done at a ballet. Don't miss it!

Dracula is DEFINITELY in the building! Island Moving Company’s unique production raises site-specific performance to new heights. I have never seen a performance anything like this. The audience is lured right into the action, moving along from scene to scene with the dancers and actors. And who could dream up a better setting for this Gothic tale than the hauntingly beautiful Belcourt Castle? Director Miki Ohlsen and composer Felix Ventouras don’t miss a beat, melding dance, live music, an original score, and video, topped off with a stunning aerial ballet. This is live theatre at its best!

IMC's Dracula is beautifully crafted, highly inventive and visually spectacular. It is like being invited onstage during Phantom of the Opera--a truly wonderful theatrical experience! It includes all-original music, performed by live musicians with film and dance seamlessly integrated together, all performed in a spectacular architectural setting that is perfectly attuned to the plot and theme of the work. Add to that that you are feet (if not inches) from the dancers themselves and you have a singular assembly of all the arts beautifully integrated into one spectacular experience!

This is the most complete artistic production most theatre-goers will ever experience. But Dracula, too?
If IMC's Dracula was not so well-paced it might be exhausting. Between the (G rated) eroticism, dance and audience interaction and dimensional multi-media there is a heightened sense of theatrical place.
And what is the theatre? A real castle.
The production is entirely original--music, choreography, and gymnastics (the strong and lovely dancers seducing Harker alone is worth the price of admission.) And yet this production stays truer to Mary Shelley's story than Hollywood will ever dream.
The only scary part is your missing out. See it. And open yourself to an experience you may never forget!
