March 19, 2010
Add Review/Comment
The New Art Center in Newton is pleased to announce EXTRAORDINARY: Puppetry, Storytelling, & Spirit. Whether created by individuals or a collective of artists, the striking combination of puppets, paintings, illustrations, and prints on view will show a diversity of ways in which puppetry and storytelling are powerful modes of spirited expression – personal, political, cultural, and social. See ordinary materials used to create extraordinary objects, stories, and performances in the work of Ashley Bryan, Bread & Puppet Theatre, Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry, Jeff Sias, Donald Saaf, and Julia Zanes. There will be interactive spaces within the galleries where people can create puppets, stories, and pictures, as well as places for visitors to display and perform their work.
