Free public reception to celebrate the opening of the new exhibit "The Sacred Forest" by Lincoln native Lynn Avery. The works in The Sacred Forest convey the power and spirituality felt in the presence of an ancient or immense grove of trees. Inspired by a concern for the environment, and motivated by mounting evidence that trees around the world are increasingly at risk, Lynn Avery has created a series of forceful, large-scale paintings that speak both to trees’ immense intensity and their uncertain future. The Sacred Forest is Avery’s way of promoting public awareness of concerns for the future of our natural world.
