    Bill Morrissey is a gravel-voiced singer-songwriter who, over the course of six albums, has established a reputation as one of folk music's most literate and compelling voices. A native of New Hampshire, Morrissey skillfully mines the terrain of that northern clime to "capture the stark hardscrabble milieus of a subterranean New England culture--rootless drifters, despondent cabbies, beery, down-on-their-luck deckhands," as Kevin Ransom noted in Rolling Stone.
