The Footlight Club presents its next production, the popular musical "Oliver!" Directed by Carol Gallagher, with music, lyrics, and book written by Lionel Bart, this popular musical is adapted from the classic novel Oliver Twist by legendary writer Charles Dickens. The focus of the show is of course, Oliver, an orphan boy who slaves away in a workhouse with other orphans and lives on little more than gruel. When the brave boy has the courage to ask for more food at the beginning of the show, this enrages his “caretakers” who sell him to an undertaker, and so begins his adventures on the streets of 19th century London. This production features the talents of Joe Breed, Lauren Pandolfe, Rachel Rossi, Rob Fettig, Maureen Festa, Alana Sacks, Joel Hersh, Justin Ballard, Anna Poplawski, Frances Price, Karen Wepsic, Gabriela Perez-Dietz, Chris DiOrio, Dan Kelly, Ryan Cook, Crew Fitzpatrick, Emily Greenslit, Caleb Hannon, Isabel Johnson, Hazel Law, Anna O'Dea, Thomas O'Dea, Sofia Perez-Dietz, Jonah Shallit, Lisette Velez-Cross, Suntaya Banyen, Theo Hanlon, Maya Newell, Tina Odim-O'Neill, Alec Shiman, Julian Perez-Dietz, Hannah Woodsum, Troy Siegfreid, Becca Schneider, Brian Moyer, Rishi Basu, and Joanne Powers. The curtain will rise at Eliot Hall at 7A Eliot St. at 8:00 P.M. on April 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 and 2:00 P.M. April 11 and 17. Offering performances every year since 1877, the Footlight Club strives to present the best in non-professional theater to a broad-based audience, and to preserve and maintain Eliot Hall as a community resource.
