The class will be taught by New Rep's Artistic Associate, Bridget O'Leary, and will meet over the course of 5 Tuesdays. We will begin by looking at the basic framework of acting using mainly the Stanislavski approach and will spend a lot of time learning how to apply action, objective, obstacles, and stakes to texts and character. We will also explore following impulses and becoming not just aware of ourselves, but also aware of our surroundings. Students will have the opportunity to apply all of this work to a monologue towards the end of the class. No experience necessary. Students should wear clothing that allows them to move easily and comfortably. The class is for adults 18 and up.
