St. Paul AME Church, established in 1874, is the oldest Black church in Cambridge. Today, St. Paul is The Five Star Church that Speaks to the World, and operates one of the largest food pantry in the city of Cambridge; provides day care, pre school and after school Christian-based education at the Henry Buckner School; developed the Christian Life Center, a community complex that provides a facility for thousands of individuals and numerous organizations and agencies; and founded the Hildebrand Family Self-Help Center serving homeless families and those in need in Cambridge and the greater Boston area. St. Paul organizes community drives responding to disasters as well as the immediate needs of local communities and the community worldwide.
