"Kakapo Rescue" - Children's Book Talk and Signing

The Kakapo looks like a cross between a plush toy and a Dr. Seuss character, a flightless, 10 pound parrot clad is soft honey-scented feathers. The Kakapo is endangered, and author Sy Montgomery will present an illustrated talk about the efforts to save the bird. She also will sign copies of the children's book she wrote about the topic.

A Spicing of Birds: A Reading of Emily Dickinson poetry

Join editor Jo Schuman who will discuss her book, A Spicing of Birds, selected bird poetry of Emily Dickinson. The book combines Dickinson's brilliant poetry with selected illustrations of the finest images of American bird art. Artwork from the Visual Arts Center collection will be displayed.
