Executive producer Sue Ryan and associate producer Chris Brindley have attracted about 140 students to the casts and crews for this year’s productions. The morning shows generally feature sixth to ninth graders, while the evening shows feature ninth graders to those up to 23 years old. Actors and technical crew members have been drawn from 11 communities, including Weston, Wellesley, Needham, Newton, Natick, Framingham, Wayland, Lincoln, Sudbury, Waltham and Lexington.
Cast and crew members from Wellesley include Lauren Alexander, Alexandra Bater, Meghan Blossom, Tatiana Chinitz, Caroline Eldridge, Caitlin Gillooly, Daniel Gillooly, Diana Hockett, Julie Hockett, Grant Jacoby, Allison Kannam, Megan Kaye, Maeve Kelley, Elizabeth Kennedy, Anna Krechevsky, Andrew Maney, Anna Mayersohn, Rebecca Mayersohn, Beverly McGowan, Caroline Murphy Racette, Justin O’Brien, Alexander Perry, Julia Reed, Nadine Richardson, Sarah Sterling, Alexander Stravinski, Bridget Sullivan, Nora Sullivan, Gracy Tuffy, Lydia Tuffy, Simone Tuffy, Grace van Dyck Wall, and Brielle Weiner.
According to Brindley, “Many of the young actors have starred in their school or college productions in years past,” and crew members have served as stage managers in their school productions. As a result, the students’ breadth and depth of experience in the theater arts shine through in the productions. “Birdie” director Abraham Mills, for example, commented, “We are blocking the show in under three weeks, and the pace is upbeat and energetic. The kids are rising to the task, in both their dancing and their singing. In fact, they sound fabulous. I walked into the theater during a number and I thought we had the professional CD playing.”
