The mission of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA) is to provide an education in the fine arts—for undergraduate and graduate artists—that is interdisciplinary and self-directed. Since its founding in 1876, SMFA was intended to be a school of art; not simply a technical institute, but a school of the most rigorous ideas and concepts.

Admission to the School’s galleries and events is always free.
